Gas powered lawn & garden gear on the way out? Make way for electric mowers and blowers
The familiar smell of gasoline on your hands as you ready the old mower to cut your grass may soon be gone. On Saturday Oct. 9, 2021, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that will ban gas-powered small off-road engines (SORE), used primarily in lawn care equipment, as soon as 2024 as the state strives to implement strategies to achieve 100% zero emissions from off-road equipment in California by 2035. This is a sign that several more states may fall in line soon.
The better bet is, that customers will soon prefer these clean running, low-maintenance electric machines, as long as they can provide the same power as their gas-powered counterparts. Reviews here at Lano Equipment for the new electric powered Toro lawnmowers and snowblowers has been very good, with one customer saying,
“it’s about time, electric power is the best innovation in lawn and garden technology to ever happen. Great for the consumer and the environment.”

Enter Toro, who has already introduced and sold several new electric powered lawn and garden models, including several push mowers and snowblowers, and is believed to be developing a new all-electric zero-turn mower, one of the first in the industry. Introduction date on that TBD.
Also, Toro will be introducing new electric powered two-stage snowblower, the Electric Battery Power Max® e26 HA Two-Stage Snow Blower (39926) set for introduction possibly this fall.
And of course, Stihl is not new to this game. The STIHL battery product line features three tiers of performance, so you can find the right family of products for your needs. Whether you’re a landscaping professional or an occasional use homeowner, STIHL battery tools, trimmers, blowers, even chainsaws, now have the power to get the job done on a single charge, and to do it as well as gas-powered products.
