Gas powered lawn & garden gear on the way out? Make way for electric mowers and blowers
The familiar smell of gasoline on your hands as you ready the old mower to cut your grass may soon be gone. On Saturday Oct. 9, 2021, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill that will ban gas-powered small off-road engines (SORE), used primarily in lawn care equipment, as soon as 2024 as the state strives to implement strategies to achieve 100% zero emissions from off-road equipment in California by 2035. This is a sign that several more states may fall in line soon.
The better bet is, that customers will soon prefer these clean running, low-maintenance electric machines, as long as they can provide the same power as their gas-powered counterparts.
